Our story

Building the internet
we actually want to use

Connect was born from frustration with platforms that prioritize engagement over community, ads over experience, and growth over people. We're building something different.

Our mission

The internet used to feel like a place full of human curiosity — small forums dedicated to obscure hobbies, mailing lists debating ideas, message boards where people were genuinely trying to help each other. That feeling hasn't disappeared. It's just harder to find.

Connect's mission is to be the platform where meaningful conversation thrives. We believe communities should own their spaces, moderation should empower people rather than gatekeep them, and the experience should be delightful — not addictive.

We're a small team. We move fast, write open-source code, and deeply believe that the right product can outlast the best marketing budget.

What we believe in

🤝

Community First

Communities are not a feature. They are the product. Every decision we make is filtered through the question: "Does this help communities thrive?"

🔒

Privacy by Default

We collect the minimum data necessary. We never sell your data. We think targeted advertising is a fundamentally broken model for community software.

Performance as Respect

A fast product respects your time. We obsess over load times, interaction latency, and perceived performance because slow software is disrespectful software.

🌱

Sustainable Growth

We're not trying to become the biggest platform. We're trying to become the best one for the communities that need us most.

🔓

Open Source

Our core platform is open source under the MIT license. We believe in building in public, accepting contributions, and letting you run your own instance.

🧠

Honest AI

We use AI to help people write better, not to manipulate what they read. Our ranking algorithms optimize for discussion quality, not engagement time.
